21 Feb 2010
Timothy George the Australian High Commissioner in Pakistan launched a new phase of the AusAID Pakistan scholarship programme on 19th February 2010.
In consultation with the Pakistani government the new programme has been designed in line with Pakistan’s development priorities and future awards will focus on maternal, neonatal and child health; basis education; rural development and food security and governance.
Candidates from Balochistan, the Federally Administered Tribal Areas and the North West Frontier Province are being encouraged to apply and the selection process includes special measures to ensure scholarships are accessible to both genders and those with disabilities.
Many of those who have taken scholarships in Australia have gone on to become leaders in government and the private sector in Pakistan.
In January 2010 51 students on AusAID scholarships travelled to Australian Universities to start their studies.
Mr George commented “These scholarships will continue to provide Pakistani professionals with the tools to drive change and influence development outcomes in Pakistan and strengthen bilateral relations".
The Next round of Scholarships will be advertised throughout Pakistan in March. For more details Click Here.
